The Housemaid receives critical acclaim from foreign press at the Toronto Film Festival
Seoul, Korea – The movie The Housemaid was shown at Roy Thompson Hall on the 12th in the Gala Section of the 35th Toronto Film Festival, which opened on the 9th.
When the gala screening concluded, Twitch.com, a movie review website, called The Housemaid ¡°Director Lim Sang Soo¡¯s best work, and the best thriller that has come out in recent years.¡± Macleans, a Canadian weekly news magazine, commented positively, saying, ¡°It is a sexy, elegant, yet shocking film. Every scene is tempting and exciting.¡±
Also, the Canadian newspaper Globe and Mail commented positively on Jeon Do Hyun¡¯s acting: ¡°An erotic thriller with an attractive, sensational and dangerous ending! Jeon Do Hyun¡¯s ability to digest any role perfectly in her own unique way makes this a must see.¡±
The Toronto Film Festival is an exclusive festival to which only a few of those projects competing at the Cannes Festival are invited. It is on a par with such big film festivals as the Cannes, Venice, and Berlin film festivals.
The Housemaid was screened with 15 other gala projects, including Francois Ozon¡¯s Potiche and Robert Redford¡¯s The Conspirator, once again proving that it is indeed a global success.
The Housemaid, which has received acclaim and attention from critics and viewers at the gala screening, has been invited to take part in the 46th Chicago International Film Festival.
Also, it is set to screen in such Asian countries as Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore and also in France in September. Also, it is set to screen in the US at the end of the year.
