Seoul, Korea – Director Jang Kun-Jae¡¯s movie Eighteen won the Grand Prize in the category of New Cinema at the 46th Italy Pesaro International Film Festival on June 27.

New Cinema is a fairly new category, having been introduced into the Pesaro International Film Festival in 2005. In the first year, the Grand Prize in this category went to Korean-Chinese director Zhang Lu for his film Grain in Ear.

The panel of judges said, ¡°The young Korean director Jang Kun-Jae transforms a private page of his sentimental education into a fresh, pleasant, and audaciously sincere tale.¡±
