Lee Sung Jin charged with fraud for gambling with borrowed money

Lee defaults on a 20-million-KRW loan from an acquaintance. Arrest warrant denied, as no concerns of fleeing.

Seoul, Korea – The request for an arrest warrant for Lee Sung Jin (33), currently under investigation for fraud, has been denied.

On July 20, the Seoul Southern District Court¡¯s Fourth Criminal Investigation Department requested an arrest warrant for Lee, on the grounds that he had not repaid 20 million KRW that he had borrowed from an unspecified Mr. Oh last year. However, judge Ui Ho Choi of the Seoul Southern District Court denied the request on the grounds that ¡°Lee admitted to the fraud and showed no signs of fleeing or destroying evidence.¡±

Last September, Lee borrowed 20 million KRW an Oh, the owner of a travel agency in Philippines, and is currently charged with not paying back the borrowed sum. Lee is also charged with two counts of gambling at baccarat in a casino in Manila.

This is not the first charge against Lee for fraud this year, as he was charged in February for failing to repay two million KRW he borrowed from a proxy driver, also named Lee, in Jeongseon, Gangwon Province.
