Seoul, Korea – MBC’s Monday-Tuesday series Dong Yi will be extended by fourteen episodes.

On the 23rd, according to MBC staff, “In a meeting of the staff and cast of Dong Yi, we have definitely decided to extend the series by fourteen more episodes. We still need no negotiate a little more, but the production company is pushing hard for the additional fourteen episodes, so we’ll go ahead with the extended run.”

Dong Yi, featuring a cast that includes Han Hyo Joo and Ji Jin Hee, was to be a 50-episode series ending in early September. Now, with the additional episodes, the finale broadcast will air in late October.

For this reason, the production schedule for next series planned for that time slot, Queen of Tears, will be delayed as well.

Dong Yi has been facing some difficulties. It is currently running against SBS’s rival series Giant and hasn’t been able to exceed 30 percent of the viewing audience. Also, Dong Yi cast member Choi Chul Ho was recently dropped from the series because of a controversy over an incident in which he violently kicked an actress.
