Bae Yong Joon wins lawsuit against Japanese publishing company for portrait rights


Seoul, Korea – According to the Japanese media, hallryu star Bae Yong Joon (38) has won in a lawsuit that he filed against a Japanese publishing company over portrait rights.

Bae Yong Joon filed a lawsuit against Okura Publishing for using his picture without his permission on the July 2008 issue of their monthly magazine ¡®It¡¯s Koreal¡¯ and the Tokyo courts awarded him damages of 4.4 million yes (61 million won).

Digital Adventure, who take care of his production rights, called it a ¡°fair judgment¡± adding ¡°we will continue to pursue those who violate these portrait rights¡±.

Bae Yong Joon also filed a lawsuit in Korea against a travel company for using his image from the drama Winter Sonata in their homepage, and in September, was awarded 30 million won in damages by the Seoul Central Courts.
