¡®Psychic¡¯ rises as the new power of Korean films

On the 15th, according to statistics from the Film Council Integrated Tickets System, the records for Psychic last weekend, from the 12th to the 14th, showed that it was no. 1 in the box office with 676,641 tickets sold in 631 theaters nationwide. Its total number is 923,243 and is set to pass the 1 million mark this week.

This record easily shatters the numbers of The Unjust, which has been number 1 for the past two weeks at the box office, which makes this a point of interest. The Unjust recorded 272,254 ticket sales in 439 theaters. However, its total sales are 2,009,210 tickets sold.

While two Korean movies are ranked no. 1 and 2 in this late fall off-season, another point of interest is the fact that 3rd and 4th place belongs to Hollywood action movies starring middle-aged Hollywood stars.

Unstoppable, starring Denzel Washington, recorded 156,817 ticket sales during the weekend, ranking third, and Red, starring Bruce Willis, recorded 90,582 ticket sales, ranking 4th.

Bad Couple, a romantic comedy starring Lim Chang Jung and Eum Ji Won, recorded 82,817 ticket sales, placing 5th. It¡¯s total numbers are 396,461 ticket sales.

Aside from this, Legend of Guardian, Devil, Late-night FM, The Disappearnace of Haruhi Suzumiya and After Shock made up the rest of the top ten.
