Seoul, Korea – A new weekday series called Thornbush Bird on KBS2 will have its first broadcast on March 2, starring actresses Han Hye Jin and Kim Min Jung.

The new series which replaces President, will have the two actresses playing characters who make radical decisions stemming from their ambitions. Han Hye Jin will play the role of Seo Jung Eun and Kim Ming Jung will play the role of Han Yoo Gyung, setting the stage for them to show off their different charms.

Han Hye Jin’s character is that of an actress who has spent a lot of time playing supporting characters, eventually rising through the ranks to become a successful actress, as well cultivating love.

On the flip side, Kim Min Jung’s character has both talent and beauty but is filled with desire for revenge against once-friend Jung Eun. After Yoo Gyung pushes Jung Eun into a bottomless pit, she is filled with remorse and guilt for her actions, giving her a femme fatale-like appearance.


In the afternoon on the 23rd at Seoul’s 63 Building, Han Hye Jin introduced the new KBS weekday series at Thornbush Bird’s production report introduction, “I will play the role of a supporting character who works her way to stardom. The character is more innocent than my previous roles, even to the point of being labeled an illiberal yet kind person.

When asked about the perceived competition between herself and Kim Min Jung, Han Hye Jin stated, “Min Jung has over 22 years of acting experience while I only have 10. Whenever I see her on stage, I see her hard-working effort and intense concentration. I have much to learn from her.”

KBS 2TV’s new weekday series Thornbush Bird is about one woman’s success story, where she starts as a supporting actress and is able to grow into a star role, but is also the story of another woman who is trying to unravel fate’s complications of her family.

The director of the series, Kim Jong Chang, explained, “It is a story of people making mistakes and of forgiving people. The story revolves around how two women make their choice between family and career, highlighting the growing pains of a woman. Ultimately, it is a warm story that explores motherhood, morality, and filial piety.”

The new series, which will have its first broadcast on March 2 at 9:30 p.m., will star the likes of Han Hye Jin, Kim Min Jung, Ju Sang Wook, Seo Do Young, and Cha Hwa Yeon.
