Seoul Grand Park Zoo starlit festival ¡°Africa After Dark¡±

Seoul, Korea – The Seoul Grand Park Zoo, located in the city of Gwacheon, has planned an African Grand Festival to be held from July 17 to August 31, until at 10 pm each evening.

During summer last year, the zoo celebrated its Centennial Anniversary by opening its gates for people to come experience wildlife at dusk. This year, the zoo¡¯s Starlit Festival will be about getting a feel for African nocturnal wildlife.

In the main plaza and inside the front gates of the zoo, there will be a display of authentic African artifacts and cultural items. There will also be performances by indigenous Africans.

Walking the exquisite torchlight path, visitors will meet nocturnal animals, and even hear the cries of creatures hidden in the dark of the night.

The Oriental Hall is doing a Squall Experience. Walking into the hall, visitors will see monkeys, crocodiles, Indian pythons, and other animals native to the Southeast Asian tropical forests. In the hall, sudden monsoons may begin with thick fog and sounds of rolling thunder, a contrast with the world on view just outside the door.

As well as the acrobatic, tight-rope walking orangutans, chimpanzees, and gorillas¡¯ performances, visitors will enjoy genuine performances by an team of African street performers who will present their acts in the dynamic lighting of the flaming torches.

Zoo Story, an animated film on Korea¡¯s one hundred years of zoological gardens, will be shown at the zoo, welcoming children and parents alike to take a seat and enjoy.
