Hong¡¯s past films include Like You Know it All and Ha Ha Ha show his delightful sense of humor and touching approach to mundanities of life, and these characteristics shine through in Oki¡¯s Movieas well.
The story of Hong¡¯s latest film is composed of four stories that revolve around a film school student Oki (Jeong Yu Mi), her classmate Jin Gu (Lee Seon Gyoon), and Professor Song, (Moon Seong Geun).
Lee, Jeong, and Moon deliver touchingly romantic stories, and the film has been selected to be shown at the closing of theg Orizzonti (Horizons) Section of the Venice International Film Festival.
Posters released with the announcement show a scene from the film in which Oki and Jin Gu are together atop Achasan. The curious illustration in the upper right corner of the poster is of Moon Seong Geun, drawn by the director himself. Director Hong explained the drawing as ¡°an attempt to make it look like somebody put graffiti on my work.¡± The film opens September 16, soon after the closing ceremony of the Venice International Film Festival (September 1 – 11).
